It's always the same, a very cool device, but Apples dictatorship. This is really the last and makes Apple really unsympathetic! Where is the problem to let a user decide which resolution he wants on a device he paid for?!? Why do you always have to jail everything and take freedom away?! That makes me so mad, I would like to throw the MacBook in the trash. I need this solution for my daily work to earn my money and Apple thinks that they have to patronize their users, technically without any sense and reason.

Apple Care, I would expect that I can at least adjust this little thing as I want it to be?! So for me the MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon is a total bad buy.

For me and many other users this is unacceptable behaviour and completely destroys the Mac experience. Currently these isn’t working anymore on Apple Silicon MacBooks. Go right to the HDMI 2.1.Why do you have to cut us users more and more? Since 2013 I use a custom resolution of 1920x1200 HiDPI on my MacBook Pro 13" with help of SwitchresX. A high quality 4k HDMI 2.0 should work but I suggest just skipping it because it will be a gamble. I recommend one that works with 8K, HDMI 2.1 48GB/s. For that resolution and for those refresh rates (mine operates at 75hz on the M1 and 144hz on my PC), you need an ultra high speed HDMI. Eventually I figured out that it was in fact poor quality HDMI cables. I had the same issue as you on a MBP and my mac mini for a long time. I stephen, I have a 34" (3440x1440) ultrawide gaming LG monitor. In fact, when I set it to 60Hz it had a noticeable flicker. The 32" Dell I have seems to run at 100Hz with the Mac. So is the maximum refresh quoted here 60Hz? So anyone got experience with this? Is getting a UW working with the Mac mini M1 tricky or have I just been unlucky? If so, what monitors work and what spec should I look for? Otherwise, is it just a software configuration thing I am missing? I have also used three different HDMI cables with the monitors so we should be able to rule that out as the culprit? Blank screen at random times for around a second.

Sadly, my initial "I've cracked it" turned to despair as I find this has the same issue. Plenty of real estate here, increased resolution and away we go.
